Cropping – growing the best

It’s important for farmers to produce quality crops, profitably. By applying agricultural lime as a fertiliser to improve soil conditions, New Zealand farmers can give their crops the ideal start.

Croping

The application of agricultural lime is one of the key factors in improving soil structure. The right soil conditions encourage worm and bacterial activity. This aerates the soil, improves drainage and enhances grass and clover growth. Good soil structure helps decomposition, making nutrients more readily available to plants. This promotes healthy root development, essential for vigorous and healthy crops.

Natural, with minimal impact on the environment, agricultural lime lifts soil pH, reducing the negative impact of aluminium and manganese in low pH soils. In soils below 5.5pH, aluminium's solubility prevents phosphate from being effectively used.

Graymont’s Aglime has been developed to prepare and improve soil structure, so New Zealand farmers and growers can achieve top growing conditions for all types of crops.

Did you know?

After processing, products derived from limestone can eventually revert to their original chemical form by reacting with carbon dioxide in the atmosphere or from industrial processes.
