December 21st, 2016, Richmond, BC — Graymont announced today that an Environmental Assessment (EA) Certificate has been issued for the proposed lime plant and quarry operation to be constructed near Giscome, BC in the Regional District of Fraser-Fort George.
“We welcome the issuance of the EA Certificate, which enables us to continue advancing this strategically important project,” stated Graymont President and Chief Executive Officer Stéphane Godin, noting that the new plant is designed to ensure a long-term supply of lime to mines and other vital industries in the North.
“A lot of hard work went into the EA process,” said David Chamberlain, Giscome Project Manager. “We continue to work closely with the Lheidli T’enneh First Nation and the local community.” He said Graymont is now actively working on project permitting through the Major Mine Permitting Office.
The Giscome project entails development of a limestone quarry and construction of a state-of-the-art lime processing plant with low-emission kiln technology.
