June 17, 2013, Richmond, British Columbia — Graymont today confirmed that it is conducting an environmental impact assessment and consultation process to build a Lime Plant and Quarry in the Regional District of Fraser-Fort George at Giscome, British Columbia.
The planned investment is consistent with Graymont’s strategy for growth in Western Canada and its objective to be the supplier and partner of choice in the lime and limestone industry. “This project will complement Graymont’s current network of plants to reliably serve existing and new customers across Western Canada and the North,” said President and CEO Stéphane Godin.
The project site near Giscome is located approximately 27 km east/northeast from the City of Prince George. Graymont holds claims on a high quality limestone deposit adjacent to a rail line for shipping products to customers throughout Western Canada and the North.

With respect to this project, “the proposed lime plant and quarry project would generate economic spinoffs for the Lheidli T’enneh First Nation and local communities” noted Stéphane Godin.
The consultation process for the project has been initiated with local authorities and the Lheidli T’enneh First Nation. Dominic Frederick, the Chief of the Lheidli T’enneh, and Stéphane Godin, Graymont CEO, have signed a protocol for communications between the parties which includes a framework for negotiations.
The project will require approvals under the BC Environmental Assessment Act and from the Regional District. Graymont is currently preparing to host public information sessions in the region. Assuming the necessary approvals are in place in 2014, the Company anticipates starting construction in the spring of 2015 and lime production would begin in 2016.
