Pleasant Gap Produces Commercial Power

In a lime industry first, Graymont’s Pleasant Gap, Pennsylvania plant started producing power today from their new waste heat recovery and power generation system.  This system uses waste heat from the new lime kiln at the Pleasant Gap facility to produce electricity.

When fully operational the facility expects to produce 3 MW of electricity.   The entire Graymont team is very excited with the culmination of this project and initial generation of electricity.  This innovative project is another example of Graymont's leadership in energy conservation and emission reduction.

Graymont takes a long term view of its business and the lime industry and is looking forward to continuing its work in Pleasant Gap and in so doing, improving our environment, contributing to the community as a good neighbor and adding value as a responsible business partner.
