An employee at Graymont’s Bedford plant, is involved in a fatal accident at work

PRESS RELEASE - For immediate publication - It is with deep regret that Allen Walsh, Bedford‘s Graymont plant manager, confirms the death of an employee, Mr. Michel Lemaire, aged 59, who was involved in a work-related accident. The accident occurred around 5:30 p.m. yesterday at the Bedford plant site.

Graymont plant manager, Mr. Allen Walsh declared, “Mr. Lemaire has worked at the Bedford Plant for the past 35 years. He was a very competent employee who was very much appreciated and respected by all. On behalf of Graymont’s employees and its management team, I personally wish to express our heartfelt condolences to Mr. Lemaire’s children and family.”

The accident occurred around 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 23, while a team was performing stone loading activities in company trucks. Ambulance services and the Sureté du Québec were called to the scene the moment that members of the team realized an accident had occurred. Mr. Lemaire was immediately transported to the Cowansville  Brome-Missisquoi-Perkins Hospital where his death was confirmed.

Mr. Walsh added, “Our company will do everything it can to facilitate the work of the Sureté du Québec investigators, the coroner and the CSST pertaining to this incident. We have retained professional services in order to help the Lemaire family and our employees through this trying ordeal.”
